Parents are the first teachers of their children, and yet many feel they no longer have a say in their child’s education. I have seen this first hand through my own involvement in the schools in my town of Princeton. In Trenton, I will work for laws that honor the parents’ roles in the lives and education of their children, policies that make curriculums more transparent, and better governance of school administrations and boards of education.

Although New Jersey has been known for its quality education, test scores from 2019-2022 show steeper declines in academic performance than many other states. After 3 years of learning loss caused by the Covid pandemic, we need to prioritize what matters most to our children - fundamental knowledge and essential skills in areas such as reading, math and science. I will fight to fully fund the schools in New Jersey and work with my fellow legislators to find innovative ways to help our students regain their high level of success in all areas of learning.

In many of the towns I visit, there are massive development projects in progress. This development needs to be carefully planned and controlled ensuring that all aspects of our communities are taken into account including roads, schools, infrastructure and costs. Our voices need to be heard in Trenton, so that our communities remain the beautiful and environmentally sustainable places we love and value.
Inflation is taking a hard toll on everyone, including those in New Jersey. To make matters worse, we have the highest property taxes and one of the highest income tax rates in the nation. From a poor immigrant to being a CPA of 20 years, I understand the struggle of the average family to put food on the table, the frustration of young people to pay rent or save for the future, and the difficulties for small businesses to stay open in New Jersey. As an assemblywoman, I will look for every opportunity to relieve the tax burden on the citizens and businesses of the state of New Jersey. I will ensure that your tax money is used responsibly and the government is running efficiently, so that we can reduce taxes and put money back in your pockets.
